ABRONIA or SAND VERBENA

Plants for light, well-drained soils. Usually of trailing habit. Abronia latifolia (arenaria) is yellow and A. umbellata pinkish-purple. Both species grow to about 6 in. and should be sown in autumn in a frost-proof frame. The outer skins must be peeled off or the seeds soaked for some hours in water before sowing, otherwise germination is irregular.
