P. Sun-loving, evergreen rockery plants for light, gritty, well-drained soils. They dislike wet winters, are slow growers and demand some care in cultivation. They are of low, tufted habit with typical sharp-pointed, rigid leaves. Acantholimon venus-tum grows to about 8 in., with silvery-grey leaves and bright rose flowers from midsummer onwards.

Cuttings taken in late summer with a ‘heel’ must be wintered in a cold frame. They are decidedly slow rooting.
