AJUGA or BUGLE FLOWER

Perennial or annual plants which succeed on most soils even in the shade of trees and shrubs. Ajuga reptans alro-purpurea bears short spikes of bright blue flowers, balanced by bronze-purple foliage. It blooms in early summer, growing to about 9 in., and may spread very rapidly on light, rich soil. A. pyramidalis is gentian-blue and decidedly less invasive. Increase by division in October or March.
