This is the Italian green sprouting broccoli, which develops a head of good size, but less compact than cauliflower and of a green colour, nevertheless very palatable, while the sprouting shoots are tender and succulent when cooked. It should be sown in the open in March, planted out when seedlings are 4 in. high, 2 ft. apart, with 3 ft. between each row. The heads will be ready for cutting in August, and the sprouts ready from September onwards for continuous pulling till November or later.
