FLOWERING SHRUB. Short-growing deciduous shrubs with grey, aromatic foliage and blue. They prefer a sunny , ideally against a wall as they are unhappy in cold, exposed positions. Caryopteris are not fussy about soil.
C. clandonensis has lavender-blue flowers in August and September. It reaches 5 ft. but can be kept lower byin March. C. mongolica grows to about 3 ft. with large rich blue flowers and narrow . It is slightly tender. Increase by 2 ½ in. long taken from non-flowering growths in late summer. They should be rooted in of sandy , placed under cloches or in a cold frame.
