Celosia Cockscomb; frost-free; South East Asia

There are many varieties of this annual, but . the one that is most often seen offered for sale is C. argentea Cristata, which has red or yellow cockscomb flowers from July to September. New plants may be grown from seed sown in gentle heat in the spring, but it is usually easier to buy one or two plants in pots if they are wanted for room decoration. It would be wise to pot them on into loam-based mixture as soon as purchased, using a slightly larger pot-this will obviate the need for too frequent feeding. Place in a well-lit position and keep thoroughly moist. After flowering plants should be disposed of.
