P. Centranthus ruber grows to about 2 ½ ft. The foliage is grey and bushy. The rose-red flowers will be borne throughout summer if seed heads are removed promptly. This also prevents self-sowing, which is profuse. It likes a light, limy soil and sunshine, and if the need arises does not suffer from transplanting at any time. It also makes a striking wall plant.
