Cheiranthus- Wallflower

Biennials sold as bedding plants.

Because of their early flowering, wallflowers are very suitable for combination with spring-flowering bulbs.

As the name implies, wallflowers are lime-lovers.

Do not plant them in damp, acid soil.

Wallflowers are sown in late spring and early summer in a shady seed-bed. Seedlings are spaced out and are transferred to their permanent position in early autumn or, if necessary, after the winter. Protect the plants from severe frost.

Cheiranthus cheiri: Height 25-40 cm, the flowering season depends on the time of sowing, but is usually mid spring to early summer. There are single and double varieties in a large range of colours; consult a good seed catalogue.
