P. These are cultivated in the greenhouse as pot plants. They flower profusely in shades of blue, red, purple etc. from December to May. Grow in ordinary light soil and keep just moist. Propagate by seed sown in April for winter flower and in June for spring blooms. Cinerarias are really perennials though invariably treated as annuals. C. maritima has silver leaves and can be grown in open as a bedding plant.
