Coleus-Blumei – hybr

Approximately 150 species of this genus are distributed throughout the tropics. Coleus blumei is the principal parent species of numerous hybrids, which mainly differ in the colour of the leaves. The extraordinary colour combinations can probably be matched only by the Crotons.

The more sun the plants have, the more intense the colours. Coleus may be grown from seed but a more rapid method of propagation is by cuttings. It is best to take these from non-flowering plants. Older specimens are not attractive, so it is best to grow new plants each year.
