H. A. This greenhouse or bedding plant, valued for the beauty of its variegated foliage, is best treated as an annual. Sowings should be made in March — in pots rather than in pans, so as to have depth of earth — in sandy loam with moist heat; water seedlings sparingly, as they are liable to damp off. The final pots should be of moderate size only as plants do best when pot bound. Pinch tops to make bushy. Dobic’s Rainbow strain is as good as any with leaves in combinations of red, pink, coppery-green and yellow.
