P. Dictamnus albus is a border plant which is a curiosity because the volatile oil in the stalks gives an inflammable exudation, which becomes luminous after dark on a light being applied; hence the name. A bigger variety is D. caucasicus. Average soil will do, but give it a dry, warm position. It does not take kindly to division and it may be a year or more before the plant flowers again. October is the best time to divide.
