Dimorphotheca Barbariae

Dimorphotheca Barbariae or Lilacina is a herbaceous plant which can be grown out of doors in favourable southern and western districts without any trouble.

The graceful single flowers are a silky shade of rosy-lilac, the reverse side of the petals being of a darker tone.

It grows in the open in a light sandy, peaty soil which does not become waterlogged. Although known in this country for over 150 years, it has only recently been regarded as a good cut flower. The blooms appear, from the end of May until October on stems of 15-18 in. long.
