P. Showy, vigorous-growing plants, thriving in any soil. Useful as a covering for rough banks or for the wild garden, where its large, bright yellow flowers of daisy-like form are very effective in early spring. It can be easily propagated by division of the roots. May flowering D. plantagineum excelsum (Harpur Crewe) grows to 2 ft. and blooms profusely but only for a short time. D. cordatum grows to only 9 in. If the old stems are cut down a second crop of bloom may be expected.
