P. A greenhouse foliage plant which needs ringing (the cutting out round the stem, of a ring of the bark) to prevent legginess. From these rings roots soon show, which can be detached and made into new plants. Grow in small pots, as they succeed best when roots are crowded, and give a soil of loam mixed with a third part manure and a little gritty sand. Press soil firmly, keep well watered and give plenty of light. Increase also by stem cuttings which root readily in heat at any season. As room plants they need frequent sponging.
