This genus consists of 10 species, the plants having 6 to 10 spineless tubercled angles, and terminating in a rudimentary. The are small, and appear near the top in clusters. The plants are natives of NE. Africa.
Echidnopsis cereiformis. Eritrea. Has dull greenabout 12 inches long and 1 inch thick, 8-angled. The flowers are brownish outside, bright yellow inside. Growing period, summer to autumn.
Echidnopsis dammanniana. Eritrea. The stems are about 8 inches long, f inch thick, 8- to io-angled. The purplish-brown flower is yellow at the centre.
