ECHIDNOPSIS

This genus consists of 10 species, the plants having 6 to 10 spineless tubercled angles, and terminating in a rudimentary leaf. The flowers are small, and appear near the top in clusters. The plants are natives of NE. Africa.

Echidnopsis cereiformis. Eritrea. Has dull green stems about 12 inches long and 1 inch thick, 8-angled. The flowers are brownish outside, bright yellow inside. Growing period, summer to autumn.

Echidnopsis dammanniana. Eritrea. The stems are about 8 inches long, f inch thick, 8- to io-angled. The purplish-brown flower is yellow at the centre.
