ERIGERON

P. Excellent border plants which have been improved considerably in recent years, especially the pink varieties. The height is usually about 2 ft. They are excellent for cutting, flower mostly in June and July and usually give a second crop if the dead flowers are removed. Over-rich soil may cause the plants to flop. Increase by division in early autumn or spring. Charity, Felicity, Unity and Vanity are various shades of pink, as is Foerster’s Liebling which only grows to 18 in. Prosperity is bluish-mauve and Frivolity lilac-mauve. Erigeron aureus is a most attractive rock plant with a very long flowering period starting in spring. It has golden-yellow daisy-like flowers on 3 in. stems and does best on lime-free soils.
