Exacum affine 13-16cC/55-61°F; South East Asia

Compact flowering plant that seldom attains a height of more than 24cm/9in, and has bluish-lilac flowers that are pleasantly fragrant. Small, glossy green leaves are in themselves attractive. Grows best in cool and light conditions, and requires regular watering and feeding. Propagate from seed at gentle heat in spring or summer and pot on into a loam or peat soil. Although they are perennial it is better to raise new plants each year.
