EXOCHORDA

FLOWERING SHRUB. A neglected deciduous shrub which bears pure white flowers on long, arching branches in May. It grows to 9 ft. and as much through. Exochorda racemosa (grandiflora) is a popular species which succeeds on most soils, except those of a chalky nature. E. serratifolia is more tolerant of chalk. Increase by suckers which may be detached in early autumn.
