P. Though hardy, it responds better to a warm outdoor situation, and is at its best in a greenhouse, where it will be in flower throughout the summer. Scarlet daisy-like flowers come from Jamesonii, and there are orange, yellow, pink and intermediate shades, including both singles and doubles, all excellent for cutting. Plant in a sunny south border in March in well-drained loam and peat. Protect plants in winter, or lift carefully and take into greenhouse. Raise from seed in moist sand and in warmth under glass in spring, or cuttings in autumn will root freely in the greenhouse. Seed is often slow to germinate and this plant is somewhat difficult to grow really well. It is, however, of incomparable beauty and worth every care.
