Radishes are an easy crop to grow. There is much to be learnt from growing some. In the summer, outdoors, they take about 21 days from sowing to harvest, but in the winter it is more difficult. They need light and warmth.

So many factors are involved that students who are new to gardening might like to have a go and sow a packet in a pot, a seed tray or in the garden. Pests may materialise – as if from nowhere, diseases may show up. Etiolation in poor light may occur, and even germination difficulties may be encountered – a veritable microcosm of gardening difficulties.

N.B. Don’t eat them all at once!
