HARDY PERENNIALS: PRUNELLA

These are extremely easy to grow and though they do not have a long flowering period they make quite a show with their stumpy 12 inches spikes in June-July. All are mat forming plants with no deep roots, and all can be easily divided at any time when not in bud and flower. P. ‘Loveliness’ covers three varieties, white, pink and lilac. There is a deeper pink species with dark green leaves named P. webbiana, and one with indented foliage and blue purple flowers called P. incisa, both flowering between June and August at 12 inches tall or less.
