HIBISCUS

FLOWERING SHRUB. An attractive late-flowering, deciduous shrub with large trumpet-shaped blooms from July to October. Full sun is essential. Varieties in cultivation are mostly forms of Hibiscus syriacus, notably Coeleste, a single mauve-blue, Due de Brabant which is a double red, Snowdrift, a single pure white and Woodbridge, rose-pink with maroon blotches. Growth is somewhat stiff to about 10 ft. Increase by firm cuttings of the current year’s growth in early autumn.
