LAVENDER

P. Is particularly happy on limy soils. Very easy to propagate from cuttings in September. Lavandula spica nana atropurpurea is deep violet to about 15 in. Twickel Purple is bright purple, also dwarf. Both are ideal for edging. The deep blue Beechwood Blue is also good. Grap-penhall variety is the tallest lavender, reaching 3 ft. Loddon Pink is pale pink to about 18 in. and there are several white forms, mostly somewhat tender.

Lavender are inclined to die off for no apparent reason. They may harbour slugs and snails, unless the plants are regularly inspected, especially towards the base.
