OLE ARIA, TREE DAISY or DAISY BUSH

FLOWERING SHRUB. This is welcome because of its late summer flowering, the grey-green evergreen foliage making a contrast to the white blooms. Olearias do especially well in seaside gardens and 0. haastii, which grows to about 6 ft., is happy in town gardens. Other species such as 0. forsteri semidentata and traversii are not reliably hardy. Plant in autumn in light loamy peat free from lime. Prune in early spring. Take ripe cuttings in August in cold frame.
