Pachystachys lutea Lollipop Plant; 15 C/60 F; Tropical South America

This produces curious upright cones of yellow-flowering bracts with protruding white flowers throughout the summer months and likes to be permanently moist and fed regularly. Pot on when well rooted in a loam-based mixture. Cuttings of non-flowering shoots a few cm in length may be taken at any time if a warm propagating case is available. Develops to a shrub of some 1.2m/4ft in height, but can be kept under control by pruning after flowering. A light, warm position is needed indoors with shade from hot sun.
