FLOWERING SHRUB. Atractive berrying shrubs belonging to the heath family and growing to about 4 ft. Do best in a moist, peaty, lime-free soil. Berries persist all winter unless injured by very sharp frosts. They are preceded by small white flowers in May. There are pink, white, red and purple forms. Spreads by underground shoots which can be detached and replanted in April. Layering is also practicable at the same time.
