Petunia: Growing Guide

Annual plants with very conspicuous, funnel-shaped flowers, unfortunately easily damaged by rain. The modern Fi hybrids are stronger, but their colours are rather harsh.

Situation:

Ideal for window-boxes, especially when protected by a roof overhang, so that the flowers are kept out of the rain. It is advisable to install a watering system.

Soil:

In containers and window-boxes use standard potting soil.

Propagation:

Sow from late winter onwards under glass, prick out once, keep warm and do not move the plants outside until late spring. Cuttings may be taken in summer.

Petunia hybrids: Height 15-50 cm; flowering season in summer. There are small-flowered, large-flowered and fringed strains, each category embracing single and double forms. Unlimited colour variety.
