Pulsatilla- Pasque Flower

Hardy perennials with beautiful flowers very early in the season. Not very easy to grow; the plants frequently rot.

Situation:

Typical rock plants; they require full sun and a particularly well-drained situation, for instance on a wall.

Soil:

Very nutritious, porous soil, rich in humus.

Propagation:

From very fresh seed.

Pulsatilla vulgaris syn Anemone Pulsatilla: Height 15-40 cm; large, bell-shaped purple flowers in mid spring; initially they grow horizontally, later more erect, and are covered in fine hairs. The ferny green foliage is very finely divided. This is the best known species. The cultivar ‘Alba’ has white flowers; in ‘Rubra’ they are red and the strain ‘Mrs van den Elst’ has pure pink flowers.
