SHEPHERD’S PURSE

A widespread annual weed ds itself at a very early stage. Will develop into a large strong plant if unchecked, and a single specimen may produce as many as 5,000 seeds during the season. It is a host plant for several vegetable pests and diseases, including bean aphid (black fly), cabbage root fly, turnip flea beetle and club root. Shepherd’s purse is easily pulled or hoed out when young.
