Stenocarpus 10°C/50°F; Australia

This becomes a tree of some 27.4m/90ft in height in nature, but makes a good foliage pot plant when young. Careful watering necessary if leaf margins are not to become scorched-even moistness being better than extremes of wet and dry. A loam-based soil mix is preferable. Leaves are green, cut into lobes, smooth and glossy, and colour will vary from pale to dark green depending on available light; however, avoid direct sunlight in summer. Plants are in short supply-new ones are raised from seed.
