Wild Lily: L.fairchildii M. E. Jones 1930

A rare North American lily from the Palomar, Cuyamaca and Laguna Mountains in San Diego County, which must not be confused with L. ocellatmn ssp. bloomerianum. Grows from a bulb with incurved scales to a height of 4-6 feet in the shade of conifer woods; small leaves with a shiny-green upper surface. The palc-orangc segments are strongly reflexcd, chrome-yellow near the base, and spotted black, (RHS-LYB 1957)
