Wild Lily: L. nanum Klotzsch and Garcke 1862

A small-leaved alpine lily, only 6-16 inches high, with pendulous, bell-shaped, pale-lilac or also cream-yellow flowers with purple speckles. Distribution: the Himalayas from Bashahr eastwards to Garhwal, Kumaon, Nepal, Sikkim; south-eastern Tibet to Bhutan and west Szechwan; north-western Yunnan at heights of 9,000-15,000 feet. In cultivation since 1852, although rare, (RHS-LYB 1951-52,1962)
